They're baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Hello Everyone! I have conquered the blogspot demons who were preventing my pictures from uploading so......Spork is back!

Spork had a fun summer but some of it got neglected on a lonely memory card and didn't make it on the blog yet so I thought I'd cram a couple things into one gigantic blog post. Ok...well maybe not gigantic, but there are a ton of pictures so it seems gigantic to me. Anyway...I digress....let's get going....I think we'll start with.......

Hogle Zoo!

So way back in July (I told you things got neglected!) Spork headed to the zoo with their little friend KJ to celebrate his birthday.

If you've never been to the zoo with a 2 year old and several juvenile acting adults you should. It's quite the adventure. Between chasing kids and riding coolers down hills nearly killing pedestrians in the process we did manage to see some of the animals.

First stop? The elephants of course!

I believe this is the preggers elephant. Spork was hoping to see the baby elephant, but we were a bit early for that.

The Rhinos weren't being very cooperative for photo opportunites, but you can seem them in the background. They really are rather ugly anyway so you're not missing much.

If you look really close you might be able to see the brand new baby giraffe hiding behind his mom in this one. He was only a day old so they wouldn't let anyone go into the giraffe house to get a closer look but we stood in the blazing hot sun for a while trying to snap a glimpse of him. How dumb are we?

This picture is probably my favorite of the whole trip. It's the inappropriate black bear!!!! This is one of the tamer poses he assumed while we were watching him. Guess everyone needs to feel the breeze between their knees sometimes.

After a couple hours of wandering we stopped for lunch. Everyone refueled on sugary caffinated goodness before we headed back to to see more creatures.

(Pretend there are more zoo animal pictures here....guess I didn't quite conquer the blogspot demons)

Spork apparently has a thing for posing on statue ears......I guess it's better than hanging from the gorilla's nipples like SOME people wanted them to.

By the end of the day everyone was beat, but we hadn't ridden the train yet. So we all climbed aboard the fabulous (lame) train for a few more glimpses of the exotic (not) animals along the way.

Ooooooh sheep! (Trust me...they are in the picture somewhere....they are just the color of dirt)

Ahhhhhh buffalo

Ooooooh....oh um....yeah...that was pretty much it.

Aside from the train ride it was a pretty fun day at the zoo!

The other adventure that was tucked away on the forgotten memory card is......

The State Fair! Spork just loves the State Fair. Where else can you pet farm animals, see a sculpture made entirely of butter AND eat overpriced fried food that is sure to give you the runs? Nowhere but the State Fair!

Unfortunately we didn't get a ton of pictures at the fair, but I've included a few.

We got to the fair just as the great american bear show was starting. The bears were pretty cool, but honestly they don't compare to the Turkey races from last year. Think about it.....bears lumbering around and sitting on giant bear chairs or giant terrifying birds chasing an RC truck around a racetrack hell bent on getting the turkey chow in the back of it.....you tell me what's more entertaining.

mmmmmm....greasy, fattening, colon lubricating fried food.....

Moooooo! Kinda awkward visiting these guys after you've just consumed 12 Kosher inches of their bovine kin on a bun with ketchup mustard and relish.

This may just look like an innocent goat and his destructive friend kicking a bucket, but in actuality you are looking at an innocent goat and his cold blooded attempted murderer friend. Moments after snapping this picture Spork was nearly consumed by the gaping goat jaws of this horrifying beast. The moral of this story? Goats, while cute and dopey looking, are actually homicidal maniacs waiting to snap.

Baaaa! Lambs, unlike goats, are content to just lay around in their little pens and not attempt to murder starfleet officers.

gratuituous picture of something that says Beaver, Utah. Yay for Beaver!

Do I even have to say anything about this one? I think not.

And finally......No trip to the fair would be complete without stopping by to see the butter cow...or cows as the case may be. 700 lbs of butter painstakingly carved and molded into a agricultural work of art. Anyone else have a sudden craving for corn on the cob or toast?
