Spork got up early on the 4th of July and headed to Provo the find a place to watch the Grand Parade. After treking a few blocks we found a lovely spot between a light pole and a traffic control box. It doesn't get much better than that! We settled in to wait for the festivities to start. There were all sorts of thing to see...so many that instead of posting all the pictures we decided that a slide show would be easier.
Here we are waiting for the good stuff to start...although that Woodsy the Owl was a rather charming fellow
Old loud army vehicle=BORING
Now for the good stuff........ok....maybe it's not the good stuff....but it's the rest of the parade.....
We got rained on a little bit, but all in all it was a pretty entertaining parade. After the parade we headed down to the park to check out the festivities. The left a lot to be desired so we didn't stick around long and didn't bother taking any pictures. Once we had worked out our out of the madhouse that Provo becomes on the 4th we headed home for a little nap and to pack up our picnic before heading to BYU to scope out a fantastic seat for the fireworks show. As much as we wanted to see the Jonas Brothers (NOT) we didn't spring for tickets to go in the stadium, so this is as close as we got to the Jo Bros.
We checked out all the little booths set up outside the stadium and then headed back to our chosen fireworks viewing spot to have ourselves some grub. It was a delicious picnic!
After dinner it was time to just kick back and wait for the big show to start. We watched the Air Force Jets fly in.....
.....and then we waited some more......and waited and waited and waited.
At some point we thought it would be a good idea to move in front of the giant light pole you see in this last picture so that we could see the fireworks better. That is when tradgedy struck! A nefarious little bee decided to sting Natalie.
Ouch!
This is what happens to you if you're a bee and you sting Natalie.....consider yourself warned
So we bandaged her up and settled back in BEHIND the giant lightpole to watch the show. The fireworks were great and we really enjoyed the show. All in all it was a fantastic 4th of July!
